Hello Hello!

Today a month has passed since we left Novo and this expedition of ours will soon come to an end. The last tourist flight to the South Pole came and left the day before yesterday so now it is getting quiet here at the runway. We have been working on a project that we call “FD83 ecological program” where we arrange the empty oil barrels in a tidy order while we wait for them to be picked up. This is done in a safe and easy way and we make sure that we don’t finish all our tasks in one day because then we don’t have anything to do the next days! An expedition like this one is like long distance running and there is no reason to hurry too much, you can always do the things tomorrow. Or they day after!

We got new neighbours here a few days ago, an expedition which is a cooperation between the Norwegian and the British polar institutions. As one does for good neighbours, we have exchanged visits and had some nice talks over a cup of tea. Their mission is to do a few scientific flights using a Twin Otter plane. Of course they are using our runway and the fuel supply that arrived from heaven few days ago. Me and the Russians have been trying to find out if we could play a trick on those new neighbours of ours, but the problem is that they would probably find out that it was us!

Soon we will be leaving our camp here at FD83 so I have been preparing vehicles and equipment for the journey back to Novo. It is better to make sure everything is in order before you start a long journey on the Antarctica high plateau. It seems that our vehicles are doing great.

Best regards,
